Privacy policy

We are a small operation selling weather reports and inspection referrals. This page says exactly what we hold and who else sees it, including the part that involves money.

Looking up an address collects nothing about you

You can type any address into this site and read the result without giving us your name, your email, or an account. We do not require a login and we do not have one to offer. The address you searched is used to answer the question and is not tied to your identity.

If you request an inspection, we pass your details to one contractor. For money.

This is how the site pays for itself and you should know it before you fill anything in.

When you ask us to arrange a roof inspection, we take the contact details you give us and send them to one roofing contractor serving your area, and that contractor pays us for the referral. Specifically:

• One contractor, not several. We sell each request to a single company. We do not run an auction, and you will not get five callbacks because of us.
• We are not a data broker. Your details are not sold to marketing lists, aggregators, or anyone other than the one contractor who receives the referral.
• Only if you ask. Requesting an inspection is a deliberate action. Reading a hail report never triggers it.
• You can change your mind. Email us before we pass it on and we will delete it. Email us after, and we will tell you which company received it so you know who is calling.

If that trade is not one you want to make, use the free report and call a local contractor yourself. That is a completely reasonable choice and the free tool exists for it.

What we actually store

• Inspection and report requests: whatever you type into the form, which is normally a name, an email or phone number, and the property address.
• Purchases: handled by Stripe, our payment processor. Card numbers never touch our servers and we never see them. We see that an order was paid.
• Traffic counts: a page-path counter with no cookies, no advertising identifiers, and no cross-site tracking. It records that a page was viewed, not who viewed it.

What we do not do

No advertising trackers. No selling your details to third-party marketing lists. No cookies for profiling. No accounts, so no passwords to lose.

How long we keep things

Inspection requests are kept while the referral is active and for a reasonable period afterwards so we can honour the replacement guarantee and answer questions about what happened. Ask us to delete your record and we will, unless we are required to keep it for tax or accounting reasons, in which case we will tell you which part we are keeping and why.

Seeing or deleting your information

Email hello@whathitmyhouse.com and ask. There is no form and no verification runaround. We will tell you what we hold, send you a copy, or delete it.

Children

This site is for property owners and contractors. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Payments run through Stripe, which is PCI compliant, and we hold no card data ourselves. We are a small operation and we are not going to claim enterprise security certifications we do not have.

How to reach a person

Email hello@whathitmyhouse.com. That address is read by the person who runs this site, not a ticket queue, and it is the fastest way to get anything fixed.
