Read this before drawing a conclusion
Everything here describes a 0.1° grid tile — a box roughly 7 miles tall — not a
building. A detection means radar saw something somewhere in that box. No detection is an absence
of evidence, not proof nothing happened. Most importantly: a tornado vortex signature is a radar
signature, not a confirmed tornado — many produce no tornado at all, and real tornadoes are
sometimes missed entirely. This is a screening tool, not an insurance claim, a loss report, or an
engineering inspection.
Why this is free
Roofing manufacturers sell versions of this: GAF adds "up to 10 years of hail and wind
history" to a QuickMeasure report for $10 on top of the $18–20 report, and sells a 3-year storm
history subscription at $349–$649 a year. The underlying data is public-domain federal data that
costs nothing to query, so we publish it, over a longer span, at no charge. If you want the same thing
